Proponents say

•       "As elected representatives for the people of the United States of America – we have to take responsibility for our roles in this moment. As elected leaders – we play a prominent role in setting the tone... In creating the atmosphere... In shaping the narrative… In determining what becomes normalized.  And this cannot be normalized." •     "There is absolutely no place for political violence in this country. My prayers go out to the victims and their families whose lives were forever changed by a depraved attacker. This resolution is not just about condemning violence—it’s about calling all Americans to do better. We must do a better job of listening to one another—rather than speaking at each other—and coming together around shared values." Source: Rep. Julie Fedorchak (Republican, North Dakota, District At Large)

•     "I voted “Yes” on H.Res. 519, condemning the attacks on Minnesota lawmakers in Brooklyn Park and Champlin, Minnesota, and calling for unity and the rejection of political violence in Minnesota and across the United States. On June 14, 2025, a gunman entered the homes of Minnesota State Senator John Hoffman and State House Speaker Emerita Melissa Hortman and shot both individuals and their spouses. Political violence has absolutely no place in the United States and must be condemned unequivocally by all Americans. This resolution condemns political violence, honors the life of Speaker Emerita Hortman and her husband Mark, and prays for the speedy recovery of Senator Hoffman and his wife Yvette. This resolution passed unanimously by a vote of 424-0" Source: Rep. Claudia Tenney (Republican, New York, District 24)
