Bill Summary

H.R. 5360 requires the Federal Trade Commission to develop educational resources to help minors identify unsafe AI chatbots and suggest ways for parents to monitor minors’ AI chatbot use. These guides would be available to the public for parents, educators, and minors. The bill also orders the FTC to include information about data and privacy laws. The FTC would model these resources after existing programs. Currently, there are no comprehensive federal laws specifically promoting minor chatbot education.
