Condemn government-wide fraud and improper payments?
H. Res. 1335 condemns corrupt practices that have been previously undertaken within the U.S. government. The resolution also expresses the belief that the U.S. government and American taxpayers would benefit from policy reforms addressing government-wide fraud and improper payments, and that eligibility for Federal programs and spending activities should be verified before payments are issued.

• "Just last week, Trump added quite a few fraudsters to his growing list of people he has pardoned—not because they are deserving of a second chance—but because they hired his friends, backchanneled a donation, or served his political purposes. He has pardoned many people charged or convicted of fraud and other financial crimes, wiping away more than a billion dollars in money that would otherwise have gone to victims of crime. President Trump has also fired inspectors general, instructed his DOJ to stop enforcing bribery statutes, and gutted the offices that investigate white-collar crime… We don’t have to choose between programs that are susceptible to fraud and nothing at all. With proper oversight, we can make sure that every American is fed, that everyone can access housing and medical treatment, and that our daycares and schools can keep guiding our children toward a better future. • "Historically, both Democrats and Republicans have shared a commitment to rooting out
waste, fraud, abuse, and corruption in government programs. But the facts of this Republican-led
investigation singling out a Democratic governor who has long been a target of President
Trump’s ire—cast against the backdrop of Republican complicity with the Trump
Administration’s panoply of destructive and unlawful actions—make it clear that Republicans
are attempting to weaponize fraud to force their unlawful, violent, and unpopular agenda on a
wary American public that does not want it. Under the banner of fighting fraud, President Trump and Secretary Noem’s Operation Metro Surge has sowed chaos, fueled violence, undermined public safety and civil rights, and resulted in the deaths of American citizens. Under the banner of fighting fraud, the Trump
Administration has tried to seize Minnesota’s voter rolls and Americans’ private data. Under the
banner of fighting fraud, the Trump Administration has attempted to strip away health,
education, and childcare funding that millions rely on. Under the banner of fighting fraud, it
appears there’s nothing the Trump Administration won’t try to get away with." Source: House Oversight Democrats

• "We're also bringing some more bills to confront the fraud—the massive, massive fraud—that sadly occurs in this country with your taxpayer dollars. And it's not thousands or millions. It's billions of dollars that are being stolen every single year from the hardworking taxpayers of America. House Republicans are committed to ending it, to exposing it, to giving more tools to the lawmakers, to the Justice Department, and to others to root it out and send people to jail who steal your money… Every one of them ought to go to jail and that money ought to be returned to the taxpayers. Yes, help the people who need it, but take the money away from the fraudsters and send them to prison. That's what we're doing this week." Source: Rep. Steve Scalise (Republican, Louisiana, District 1)
• "For years, my colleagues and I have been calling out the rampant fraud in my home state of Minnesota. From child care and autism services to meal assistance and housing, Minnesota has been ground-zero for fraud in our government programs—government programs, as has been said already this morning by Lisa, which are intended for Americans in need. Fraud is not a victimless crime. It is a blatant theft from vulnerable Americans. Let me remind everyone: Democrats like Tim Walz, Keith Ellison, and Ilhan Omar created the perfect conditions for fraud and then, by the way, they looked the other way while taxpayers were ripped off to the tune of billions of dollars. In contrast, Republicans are taking decisive action to root out waste, fraud, and abuse. We’re going to make it much harder for fraudsters to take advantage of American generosity. Source: Rep. Thomas Emmer Jr. (Republican, Minnesota, District 6)
