Recognize the contributions and sacrifices of law enforcement officers?
This concurrent resolution expresses support for law enforcement officers by recognizing their contributions and sacrifices in protecting communities and upholding public safety. This resolution includes the following: appreciating the work of officers that extends beyond traditional enforcement duties (including resolving neighborhood disputes and checking on elderly residents), emphasizing that drug overdose deaths and violent crime rates have decreased significantly in the U.S., and understanding the risks that officers face to their own lives for the sake of combating crime.

Opponents say
• "I challenge the members that added in this poison pill to look an officer in the eye and explain why you are exploiting their service, their sacrifice, and their time for political theater. It’s not about you or your agenda – it’s about the men and women across this country who put their lives on the line for us. Keep the main thing, the main thing and show some respect." Source: Rep. Janelle S. Bynum (Democrat, Oregon, District 5)
• "Our police officers deserve the respect appropriate to their work. To use their service to make partisan political attacks is disgusting, and I won’t support legislation that seeks to divide our country at their expense." Source: Rep. Bonnie Watson Coleman (Democrat, New Jersey, District 12)
Proponents say
• "Law enforcement officers do not just fight crime, they check in on elderly neighbors, mentor kids, and show up in the moments of crisis that most people never see and never have to think about. That kind of quiet, steady service deserves real recognition, and Congress should be on record saying clearly that we stand behind the men and women who put on the badge every day. I am proud to support this resolution, and I am proud to back the blue, not just during National Police Week, but every single day of the year." Source: Rep. Pat Harrigan (Republican, North Carolina, District 10)
• "Anti-police rhetoric from the other side of the aisle has put our communities at risk. We saw the consequences during the Biden-Harris Administration as crime continued to rise across the country. Here in El Paso County, our Sheriff's Deputies and Police Officers work tirelessly to keep the Pikes Peak Region safe, and I will always stand with them and Back the Blue." Source: Rep. Jeff Crank (Republican, Colorado, District 5)
• "Our law enforcement officers deserve our respect, our gratitude, and our support—not policies that make their jobs harder. I’m proud to support legislation that backs the blue, holds violent offenders accountable, and helps restore safety and order across America. During National Police Week, we make extra effort to honor the brave men and women in law enforcement who put their lives on the line every day to keep our communities safe." Source: Rep. Julie Fedorchak (Republican, North Dakota, District At Large)
