Opponents say

•    This bill allows the Dept. of Homeland Security officials to be more generous with newly legalized DACA recipients, including allowing those with criminal activity to be eligible for citizenship.
•    Dreamers are undocumented immigrants. While it is a travesty to rescind their temporary status, we must uphold the law equally for all persons.

Proponents say

•    A pathway to citizenship ensures that Dreamers, who are effectively American in all but legal status,  can continue to contribute to their communities through work, service, and schooling.
•    Rescinding or changing DACA without passing the Dream Act would have devastating effects on Dreamers and their families, who they often support, and also the U.S. economy, where Dreamers contribute significantly: $433.4 billion in Gross Domestic Product over 10 years.
